One man was killed and another seriously injured in an accident Friday morning just outside of Bassfield on Hwy. 35.
C.L. Mahew Sr., 64, entered Hwy. 35 out of a private drive and into the path of a Lindsey Trucking log truck of Collins.
Mahew was pronounced dead on the scene.
The truck driver was airlifted to Forrest General Hospital.
Officers with the Mississippi Highway Patrol were on the scene and closed one lane of the highway while the wreckage was cleared.
His condition is not known.
The crash remains under investigation.
