Absentee voting now open for primary run-off

Absentee voting is now open for the primary run-off to be held Aug. 27.
Registered voters can absentee vote at the Jefferson Davis County Circuit Clerk’s office from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. through Friday.
The office will also be open for absentee voting this Saturday from 8a.m.-noon. You will not be able to absentee vote after noon on Saturday.
Jefferson Davis County candidates on the run-off ballot are Duan ‘Slim’ Dampier and Ron Strickland for sheriff, Demarrio ‘Casper’ Booth and Coleman Price for District 3 Supervisor, Michael O’Brian Evans and Terry ‘Red’ Mathis for District 4 Supervisor and Vernon Dampier and Calvin Lewis Graves for Justice Court Judge Post 2.
Voters must vote the same party in the primary run-off that they did in the primary held Aug. 6.
Several races will not be decided on Tuesday. Those with independent candidates in their race will be on the general election ballot in November.
