Debris removal is continuing in Jefferson Davis County from the tornado damage on Easter Sunday.

Workers are making their first pass throughout the county and have cleared roughly half of the 68 county roads affected.

The company will complete three passes with a weekend break between each pass.

After the first pass is complete, land owners have the opportunity to move more damaged property to the road for removal.

M.G. Dyess and partner Looks Great Tree Service were hired by the county for the removal.

The federal declaration made for Jefferson Davis County after the tornadoes, made public and individual assistance available. Over 87 percent of the debris removal  cost will be reimbursed to the county.

This debris removal is only for county roads affected by the tornadoes on April 12.

Debris should be placed curbside, but should not block roadway.

Placing debris near or on trees, poles or other structuresmakes removal difficulat. This includes fire hydrants and meters.

Debris should be separated into the following six categories: electronics, large appliances (please seal and secure all appliance doors), hazardous waste, vegetative debris, construction debris  and household garbage.
