Haynes found guilty

Fifteenth Circuit Court District Attorney Hal Kittrell announced that on Oct. 23, Allen Ray Haynes, 46, of Carson, and Kurt Mishael Magee, 28, of Prentiss, were found guilty by a Jefferson Davis County jury.
Following the three-day trial, Allen Ray Haynes was found guilty of kidnapping, sexual battery and conspiracy.
Kurt Mishael Magee was found guilty of kidnapping and conspiracy.
Under the conspiracy charge for both Haynes and Magee, falls kidnapping, sexual battery and attempted murder.
The incident which led to the charges occurred in 2017.
The case was tried by Assistant District Attorneys Laurel Blue Brinkley and Carpenter S. Marsalis.
Both Haynes and Magee will be sentenced on Nov. 9, at the Marion County Courthouse in Columbia. Haynes faces a maximum penalty of 65 years in prison and will have to register as a sex offender upon his release. Magee faces a maximum penalty of 35 years in prison.

“With these verdicts, we are able to bring the victim’s nightmare to a close and provide the citizens of Jefferson Davis County with peace of mind following these heinous crimes. I am hopeful for a just sentence befitting the unspeakable acts committed by the defendants.”
