Graveside services were held Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, at Pen Oak Baptist Church in Silver Creek, for Mr. Derrick D. Washington, 28, who died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, in Jefferson Davis County.
Rev. Robert Barnes officiated with Johnson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Derrick D. Washington was born in Brookhaven to Mrs. Martha Washington Payton and Mr. Zebedee Davis. He attended Prentiss High School.
He was a freelancer and worked many jobs including pipeline, Manheim Mississippi and Channel Control Merchants.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Lawrence Washington and great-grandmother, Maggie Mae Washington and paternal grandfather, Zebedee Davis.
He is survived by his parents, Martha (Eric) Payton and Zebedee (Elizabeth) Davis both of Prentiss; fiancé, Anastasia Applewhite and son, Derrick Washington both of Columbia; maternal grandmother, Minnie Washington of Bassfield; paternal grandmother, Al’Jean McCullum of Prentiss; sisters, Monica Washington and Tremendus Hill both of Bassfield; Tykeyviah Hall, Markeyona Hall of Prentiss; Niklylia Payton of Collins; brothers, Marcus Hall Jr. of Prentiss and Kemon Davis of Bassfield; god-mother, Wanda Ard and many other relatives and friends.
