Graveside services were held Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021, at Golden Gate Cemetery in Prentiss, for Mr. Cleavon “Candy” Hartzog, 71, who died Monday, Feb. 23, 2021, at his residence.

Elder Leroy White officiated with Johnson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cleavon Hartzog was born to the late Alonzo and Lucille Fairley Hartzog.

He attended J. E. Johnson School. He worked in construction, masonry and was a brick layer.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lonnie C. Hartzog, Lawrence Hartzog and Jessie J. Hartzog; three sisters, Vergie M. White, Maureen May and Hazel Hooker.

He is survived by three sons, Tracy (Cassandra) Easterling of Bassfield; Cleveland Hartzog of Meridian and Ferrin Hartzog of Prentiss; two daughters, Tehera Allen of Prentiss and Kimberly (Dennis) Gibson of Birmingham, Alabama; two brothers, Charlie C. Fairley of Prentiss and John Fairley of Jackson; four sisters, Betty (Roscoe) Price and Lucy Hartzog of Prentiss; Mary (Elijah) Barnes of Silver Creek; Ruthie Fairley of Magee; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
