The Prentiss Christian School Junior Varsity Team has won the school’s first ever state championship in archery.
Archery hasn’t been a sport the school participated in since the early 2000s. The program was revitalized this year with great success.
“Its been an amazing first year,” said head coach Cody Daughdrill.
Ninety percent of the students had never shot a bow before February 2021.
“They have definitely taken what we’ve taught them and put it to good use. I have many that really stand out and show great promise in the sport of archery.”
Archery is a team sport, as well as an individual sport.
“You challenge yourself every time you shoot. It is a skill that sticks with you. It’s more of a discipline.”
“The kids at Prentiss Christian have definitely earned there placements that they have been awarded, along with my respect as their coach.”
The PCS varsity team won the MAIS 1A South State Championship. The JV took second place and PCS elementary took third.
All three teams were then qualified to shoot in the AIMS State Tournament.
