Ausbin Barnett

Funeral services for Mr. Ausbin Barnett were held at 3 p.m., Friday, June 18, 2021, at Shalom Baptist Church in New Hebron. Bro. Richard Cothern officiated, assisted by Bro. Ray Hodges and Bro. Blake Stalans. Interment followed at New Hebron Cemetery.
Mr. Barnett, age 82, passed away Monday, June 14, 2021, at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
Serving as pallbearers were Stevie Barnett, Ricky Barnett, Ben Barnett, Tony Barnett, Kenny Bullock, Billy Barnett and Cory Nations. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Brian Barnett, Blake Stalans, Bailey Buckley, Avery Buckley and James Nations.
Mr. Barnett was born on Oct. 27, 1938, in New Hebron, to Bennett and Louise Herrington Barnett. Having a love for country gospel music, he enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. He was always ready to witness about the hope and trust he had placed in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mr. Barnett has also been described as being very candid and straightforward in his conversations; a characteristic that personalized him. In addition, Mr. Barnett was an avid tennis player in earlier years. He was a faithful member of Shalom Baptist Church.
Mr. Barnett, the widower of the late Nona Gail Barnett (1987), leaves to cherish his memory two Sons, Randy Barnett of Lone Star and Jim Barnett of Pearl; two daughters, Melanie Barnett of Braxton and Sharyn Stalans of New Hebron and one sister, Barbara Nations of New Hebron.
He is also survived by five grandchildren, Brian Barnett, Crystal Buckley, Blake Stalans, Monica Barnett and Abbie Stalans. He also leaves behind 15 Great Grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Barnett was preceded in death by his parents, Bennett and Louise Barnett; his beloved wife, Nona Gail Barnett; a son, Tim Barnett; his brothers, Paul and Buddy Barnett and a sister, Betty King. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen Barnett.
Visitation was held from 1:30 p.m. until service time, Friday June 18, 2021 at Shalom Baptist Church.
