Peggy Chain Magee

Peggy Ann Chain Magee, 90, died at her home on Thursday, June 17, surrounded by her family. Services were held at Prentiss Presbyterian Church on Monday, June 21, at 11 a.m. with visitation preceding at 10 a.m. at the church.
Born in Mount Olive, on April 2, 1931, to William Odell and Eddie Mae Wolfe Chain, she was a graduate of Mount Olive High School and attended Jones County Junior College. She married Guy Milloy Magee on August 19, 1951, and they made their home in the Clem community in Jefferson Davis County.
Mrs. Magee was first a member of Mount Olive Presbyterian Church and then served as church pianist for over 50 years at Hopewell Presbyterian Church and subsequently at Prentiss Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Farish Chain and James Alexander (Alec) Chain; and three sisters, Oneida Chain Kidd, Polly Chain Roberts and Shirley Chain Holliday.
She is survived by her three sons, Gwinn Magee and his wife Suzanne of Nashville, Tennessee; Mark Magee and his wife Pam of Florence and Monty Magee of Jackson. She is also survived by her grandson Robert Magee and his wife Allison of Brandon and her three granddaughters, Holly Magee Wells and her husband Chad of Brandon, Ann Magee Barnes and her husband Dave of Nashville, Tennessee and Laura Magee Love and her husband Jimmy of Nashville, Tennessee. Her great-grandchildren are Avery, Mallory and Will Magee; Ben, Zanna and Sam Barnes and James and Henry Love. Many nieces and nephews also cherish her memory.
Her family wishes to thank all her friends and loved ones for their kindness and support, especially her companions in her final years, Sharon Rogers and Mary Cooper.
