Earnest Ray “Jack” Gamble Jr.

Graveside services for Mr. Earnest Ray “Jack” Gamble Jr. were held Sunday afternoon, Sept. 26, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Prentiss Cemetery. Mr. Gamble, age 67, passed away Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021, at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest. Brother Lyn Holloway officiated.
Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss, was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gamble was born on April 17, 1954, in Prentiss, to Earnest Ray Gamble Sr. and Viola Daughdrill. “Jack”, as he was known by everyone, worked for many years in the oil industry and specialized in petroleum geology and consulting. He also worked in the logging business. In addition, Jack was a farmer and was well known for the fruit stand he operated. He was of the Baptist faith.
Serving as pallbearers were Mason Shivers, Konnor Daley, Tray Gamble, Mitchell Daley and Tony Gamble.
Mr. Gamble was preceded in death by his father, Earnest Ray Gamble Sr along with his step-father and mother, George and Viola Smith.
Mr. Gamble leaves behind one son, Earnest Ray “Tray” Gamble III (Jessica) of Meridian; three daughters, Christy Young (Ron) of Hattiesburg, Trish Daley (Mitchell) of Purvis and Jacqueline Gamble of New Hebron; one Sister, Catherine Tadlock of Morton and seven grandchildren.
Visitation was held Sunday from noon until 1:45 p.m., with the service commencing at 2 p.m. at Prentiss Cemetery.
