Memorial services were held Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021, at Ruby K. Johnson Chapel in Prentiss, for Mr. Joe Louis Hicks, 72, who died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2021, at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg. Rev.  Jessie Holloway officiated with Johnson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Joe Hicks was born to the late Willie Louis Hicks and Mrs. Doretha Simmons Hicks. He attended J. E. Johnson High School where he graduated in 1967. He joined the military and served in the Vietnam War. He later graduated from trade school for air conditioning and refrigeration in Detroit, Michigan.

He married the late Dorothy Mae Cavaness and to this union, two children were born.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Hicks and sister, Joyce Loftin.

He is survived by two sons, Jonathan and Marvin (Beverly) Hicks both of Hattiesburg; mother, Doretha Hicks of Prentiss; brothers, Charles (Virginia) Hicks and Clifton Hicks both of Hattiesburg; Donny (Shirley) Hicks of Morton and sister, Queenia (Glen) White of Prentiss and many other relatives and friends.
