Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at Progress Baptist Church in Bassfield, for Mrs. Altha Lorean Reese Owens, 48, who died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Rev. Levator Adams officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Altha Owens was born to the late Lorean and John Ed Reese. She attended Bassfield High School and worked at Sanderson Farms, Dirt Cheap and Dollar General for several years.

She was a member of Progress Baptist Church and was married to Anthony N. Owens in 2015.

She is survived by her husband, Anthony Owens of Prentiss, Mississippi; son, Kederick Reese of Bassfield; daughters, Victoria (Maurice) Reese of Prentiss; and Jamika Reese of Bassfield, Mississippi; brother, Johnnie (April) Reese of Bassfield; sister, Tina Reese of Gulfport; best friend, Erica Griffith and many other relatives and friends.
