Annie “Fay” Wiginton, age 89, departed peacefully from this life following an extended illness Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021, at Trinity Place Retirement Community in Columbus. Fay, as she was affectionately known to family and friends, was born Sept. 30, 1932, in Peppertown, as one of nine children to the late Willie and Ruby Nanney. Fay was a dedicated homemaker as well as an elementary secretary for both the Quitman and Jefferson Davis County School Districts in Mississippi. She enjoyed numerous interests and participated in countless activities. Renowned as a seamstress and baker, she was heralded for her cake and confectionery recipes. She was married to James Wiginton Dec. 6, 1952. The two maintained an inseparable bond as a marriage institution for 69 years. During and after retirement, she maintained a constant presence at school and college events in support of family members. Her lifelong passion for sports was manifested in her unwavering support for Mississippi State University and especially, Duke basketball. As a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and member of Prentiss United Methodist Church, she was widely recognized as a hospitality ambassador for her baking and confectionery gifts. Her enduring and boundless love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren served as an inspiration to all. In order to be nearer immediate family, she and husband James relocated to West Point within the past year.

She is survived by husband, James Wiginton of West Point; three daughters Debbie (Michael) Caldwell, Brentwood, Tennessee; Kay (Wayne) Rankin, Brandon; and Gay (Chris) McBrayer, West Point. She is also survived by six grandchildren Bryce (Nina) Caldwell, Greenville, South Carolina; Lindsay (Seth) Argo, Nashville, Tennessee; Hollie May Vanderford, Brandon; Meg (Riley) Pierce, West Point; Triston (Haley) Cowan, Brandon; and Macon McBrayer, West Point; nine great grandchildren including, Zoe Caldwell, Knoxville, Tennessee; Atticus and Alden Caldwell, Greenville, South Carolina; Issy, Oscar and Millie Argo, Nashville, Tennessee; Aniston and Addie Cate Vanderford, Brandon; Jaxon Cowan, Brandon and multiple nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Ruby Nanney: brothers Hoyle, Buster, Doug, JB, Todd, Bobby and Rex Nanney; and sister Sedera Loden.

A celebration of life service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, at Robinson Funeral Home in West Point. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until service time. The Rev. James Towery of West Point officiated. A private graveside service followed. The family requests flower donations be made at Robinson Funeral Home or memoriam to Prentiss United Methodist Church in Prentiss.
