Bobbie Fairley

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at Ruby K. Johnson Chapel for Mrs. Bobbie Joyce Fairley, 71, who died Friday, Jan. 21, 2022, at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg. Rev. Ozell White officiated with interment following in Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery in Prentiss. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bobbie Fairley was born to the late Noble Byrd and Lula Laird Myers. She was the fourth child of seven, she was baptized at an early age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she remained a faithful and dedicated member serving on the Pastor Aide Committee until her health failed.
She attended Oakley Elementary School during her early years and high school at J. E. Johnson High. She married the late Willie Jr. Fairley and to this union, one child was born, Mary Louise Fairley Bridges. She later had two more children, Mary Joyce Fairley and James Edward Myers.
Mrs. Fairley later moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she worked for Oak Ridge Care Center for many years, she later returned to Prentiss to care for her mother. She was employed at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital for many years and was caregiver for her oldest sister, Bessie Smith.
Mrs. Fairley was preceded in death by her sister, Linda, Bessie and Dessie; daughter, Mary Joyce; brother, Roy and Robert and a grandson.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary F. Bridges; son, James Myers; special and close friend, Willie Stubbs; sisters, Lula Ree White of Prentiss; Mattie Williams of Minneapolis, Minnesota; brothers, Michael (Beth) Mayfield Sr. of Henderson, Kentucky, Donell (Doris) McIntosh of Clarksville, Tennessee and Roger Dale Daniels of Russelville, Kentucky; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
