Reco Sims

Reco Sims entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022. He was born on March 15, 1958, to Dottie Lee Sims. He was raised in Prentiss by his grandparents Larkin and Nanny Sims. Reco accepted Christ at the early age of seven. He was baptized at Progress Union Baptist Church by Pastor Rankin. He later joined New Hope Baptist Church pastored by Rev. Jamaal Weathersby. He graduated from Prentiss High in 1976. He worked a combined 42 years at Avondale and Bollinger as a crane operator supervisor and a licensed master rigger.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Dottie Lee Sims Davis; his stepfather, Denmon Davis Sr.; his grandparents, Larkin and Nanny Sims; one brother, Aubrey Davis; two nephews, Andre Toussaint and Troy Squire. He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Reco Williams, Jarmal Reco Sims; one daughter, Kiwan Peters (Tyrus); four sisters, Linda Jefferson (Alvin) Windy Cooper, Phyllis Davis (Alvin) and Deborah Squire; three brothers, Denmon Davis Jr., Earl Davis and Andre Davis (Terri); close and devoted friend Betty Boyce and a host of nieces, nephews, two great nieces and friends.
Body lie in state at New Hope Baptist Church, on Friday, Jan. 21, 2022, from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. Funeral and committal service was held on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Silver Creek. Rev. Michael Smith officiated. Interment was held at the church cemetery. Professional service entrusted to Littlejohn Funeral Home.
