Graveside services for Ms. Evelyn Lee were conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022, at 3:30 p.m. at Spring Hill Cemetery in Shivers.  Rev. Mike Grenn officiated.  Ms. Lee, age 89, passed away Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022, at the Lawrence County Hospital in Monticello.

Saulters Moore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn Lee was born on Jan.4, 1933, in Simpson County, to William Houston and Lela Ray Berry Lee.  Ms. Lee lived in Shivers her entire life and after graduating high school, she attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College.  In her younger years, she worked as a switchboard operator; however, most of her life was spent as a homemaker while living with and taking care of her mother.  “Aunt Evelyn”, as she was known to family, centered her life around her nieces and nephews.  She will be tremendously missed.

Ms. Lee was preceded in death by her parents, William Houston and Lela Ray Lee and her three sisters, Helen Lee Leach, Hilda Lee Kersh and Jewell Sherman.

She is survived by a brother, Mims W. Lee Sr of Shivers as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers were Wally Lee, Randy McCloud, Pat Sutton, Hunter Sutton, Andy Sutton, Matthew Fox and Patrick Sutton.

Family and friends gathered on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022, at 3 p.m. at Spring Hill Cemetery with the service commencing at 3:30.
