Graveside services were Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at Friendship Church of God in Christ in Collins, for Mr. Vernon Stein Bass, 75, who died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022, at Jefferson Davis County Community Hospital in Prentiss. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Vernon Bass was born to the late Vernon and Annie Lee Bass. He was a member of James Hill Church of God in Christ and later moved his membership to Friendship Church of God in Christ where he remained until his death.

He was married to Edna R. Barnes and to this union, nine children were born.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dorothy Bass.

Mr. Bass is survived by five sons, Lee Vernon (Len) Bass; Joe (Felicia) Bass, Robert (Glenda) Ball all of Prentiss; James (Andrea) Bass of Bassfield and Thomas Bass of Vancouver, Washington; three daughters, Shirley Bass of Houston, Texas, Annie (Troy) Buckley of Prentiss and Rose (Tyrone) Weary of Prentiss; four sisters, Zenora Wilks, Nelly (James) Newson, Ivory Fuselier all of Prentiss and jessie (Joe) Louis of Providence, Louisiana; four brothers, Charles Gray of Houma, Louisiana, Howard (Marine) Bass Hattiesburg; Milton (Jennifer) Bass of Oakvale and Arthur (Viriginia) Polk of Prentiss; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
