Patronia Thompson

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at Progress Baptist Church in Bassfield, for Miss Patronia Chena Thompson, 44, who died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.  Elder Bernard Harper officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Miss Patronia Thompson is the daughter of Rev. Vester Thompson Jr. and Mrs. Etta Mae Thompson. She was a member of Progress Baptist Church and attended House of Refuge in Prentiss, Mississippi. She was a graduate of Prentiss High School, Class of 1999. She was an employee at Ellisville State School in Sumrall, as a day student from 2001 to 2016. She later attended the Day Program at Millcreek in Collins, where she remained until her death. She loved coloring, making arts and crafts, dancing, singing, listening to music, swimming, traveling with her family, playing video games and eating pizza and ice cream.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Rev. Vester Thompson Sr. and grandmothers, Zenia M. Thompson and Elizabeth A. Harper.

She is survived by her mother, Etta Mae Thompson of Bassfield; father, Pastor Vester Thompson Jr.; step-mother, Pastor Rachel Thompson both of Prentiss; sisters, Dr. Patrina C. Thompson-Wilson of Hoover, Alabama; Adrea (Daniel) Thompson-McDonald of Laurel; and Alexandria Price of Bassfield; half-brother, Zachary Thompson of Prentiss; step-brothers, Terry (Candi) Hathorn of Atlanta, Georgia and Mikell Hathorn of Prentiss; grandfather, Rev. William J. Harper of Gulfport; godsister, Dulana Reese of Chicago, Illinois; caregivers, Cammie Reese and Suboria Hinton and many other relatives and friends.
