Pat, as she was known by all, was born March 19, 1927, in Bude. She was the daughter of Shelly Bascom McDaniel and Anna Mae Hill McDaniel.
Pat graduated from nursing school with an RN degree from Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, Jackson in 1949. Her life and greatest passion was nursing. Pat loved to help people heal and would go out of her way to take care of anyone who needed her expertise as a nurse. She had a gift of loving her patients and making them feel at ease and cared for. After 60 years of nursing, Pat retired to her home in Old Hebron to enjoy reading, television, puzzles and her best kitty friends.
Before moving back to Mississippi from Florida, Pat was head surgery nurse at Morrow Memorial Hospital in Auburndale, Florida and also worked at the Crippled Children’s Clinic in Lakeland, Florida. After her return to Mississippi in 1973, Pat worked for Dr. Brantley B. Pace and Lawrence County Hospital over 30 years.
Preceding Pat in death were her mother and father, loving husband Harold Langston, brother Warren McDaniel (Dot), sister Lexine Graham, brothers David and Daniel McDaniel, nephew Randy Lee Randall (Vivian), son-in-law David S. Curry Jr. and great-granddaughter Delaney Joy Payne.
Pat is survived by her loving son and caretaker of many years, Mark Langston of New Hebron; daughter, Cathy Curry of Sun City Center, Florida; granddaughter, Lesley Wasson (Zach); grandson, Ashton Payne and step-granddaughter, Azzie Wasson, all of Winter Haven, Florida; sister-in-law, Dorothy McDaniel of Gulfport and niece and nephew, Vivian and Shea Randall of Memphis, Tennessee.
When able, Pat attended New Hebron Baptist Church. She dearly loved her Sunday School class and spoke often of their friendship, generosity and kindness to her and her family.
The family of Pat would like to especially acknowledge and thank her wonderful doctors, Dr. Brantley B. Pace and Dr. Jim Stephens of Monticello for their exemplary love and care for her and the family throughout the years. They would also like to thank the staff of Lawrence County Hospital, Lawrence County Nursing Center and their MANY friends and neighbors for their compassionate, loving care, kindness and concern for her and her family.
