Marshall Glynn Dyess passed away peacefully on Feb. 28, 2022, at his residence in Carson.

Glynn Dyess was born on Oct. 20, 1943, to the late William Floyd (Buck) Dyess and Aileen Miller Dyess of Carson. He was a lifelong member of Greens Creek Baptist Church. He graduated from Bassfield High School and attended Pearl River Community College. On March 5, 1966, he married the love of his life, Joyce Rushing of Prentiss, and together they raised three children. He proudly served in the Mississippi Army National Guard with the 134th Engineer Company out of Prentiss for 14 years. He fully enjoyed his time serving in the National Guard.

Glynn spent his entire 50-year career in the oil and gas pipeline industry. He started out working as a laborer and rose steadily through the ranks of Superintendent to Construction Manager where he supervised projects all across the United States for various companies such as Banister, Fulgum and JB Miller, Inc. In 1992, Glynn started his own company, MG Dyess, Inc. in Bassfield. Under his proud and experienced guidance until his retirement in 2016, MG Dyess grew and ultimately became recognized in the industry as one of the nation’s premier pipeline construction firms.

He loved the town of Bassfield, Jefferson Davis County and the state of Mississippi and he was an enthusiastic supporter whenever it came to efforts to fundraise for organizations such as the FFA or Relay for Life. He also enjoyed serving the state of Mississippi on various advisory councils at the request of former Mississippi Governors Haley Barbour and Phil Bryant.
