Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Courtney Baughman were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2022,  at Bassfield Baptist Church.  Interment followed in the Bassfield Cemetery.  Rev. Ken Roberts officiated.  Mrs. Baughman, age 92, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord early Wednesday morning, July 13, 2022, at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.

Edith Courtney Baughman was born on Aug. 14, 1929, in Jefferson Davis County to Marvin and Edna Davis Courtney.  After graduating college, Mrs. Baughman spent many years in elementary education.  She and her husband, the late Robert Elige Baughman, who passed away in December of 2021, enjoyed nearly 70 years of marriage.  A gallery of priceless memories was created over the years; raising their two children, welcoming their children’s spouses into the happy family as well as a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren along the way.  Mrs. Baughman will be remembered for the delicious assortment of pies she made as well as having a passion for flower gardening and sewing.  She was a member of Bassfield Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Edna Courtney; her husband, Robert Elige Baughman and her 4 brothers, Fred Courtney, Kenneth Courtney, Frank Courtney and Percy Courtney.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughter, Debra Pierce (Michael) of Hattiesburg, MS and her son, David Baughman (Laurie) of Gulfport.  The legacy of their Mamaw will live on through her grandchildren, Lauren Walters (Travis), Caleb Baughman, (Orie); her step-grandchildren, Sarah Howell, Spencer Howell, Erin Howell and 4 great-grandchildren.

The family receive friends Saturday from 1 p.m. until the hour of service at 2 p.m. at Bassfield Baptist Church.
