Funeral services were held Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Silver Creek, for Mr. Seggie Lee Toney, 75, who died Monday, July 18, 2022, at Song Health and Rehabilitation in Columbia.  Rev. Michael Smith, pastor, officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Seggie Toney was born to the late A. B. and Magaline Toney in Prentiss, Mississippi.  He joined Shady Grove Baptist Church at an early age and remained until his demise. He worked various jobs between Mississippi and New Orleans, Louisiana; lastly working at Circle S.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Henry Toney, Larry Toney, Avery Toney, Cornelius Toney and Willie Toney, Sr.; sister, Nancy Toney.

He is survived by his sons, Sammy (Elizabeth) Toney of Prentiss, and Maurice Nichols of LaPlace, LA; daughters, Lynda Toney and Lillie (Bill) Magee both of Prentiss; three brothers, Lavern Toney of Gulfport; Joseph (Linda) Toney of Prentiss; and Robert Toney of Vallejo, CA; four sisters, Mildred (Ricky) Joseph and Marie Toney both of LaPlace, Louisiana, Earnestine (Reuben) Jamison of Houston, Texas; Evelyn Seamore of Las Vegas, Nevada; seven aunts, nine great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
