Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, at Progress Baptist Church, Bassfield, Mississippi for Mr. Claudell Nelson, 65, died on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022, in Bassfield. Rev. Kenneth Thompson officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Claudell Nelson was born to the late L. Z. and Rosie Nelson.  He was a member of Progress Baptist Church.

Mr. Nelson was married to Mamie Daniels and formerly worked at Sanderson Farms, and Lee’s pigskins.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Young; brother, John Nelson.

He is survived by five children, Sharonda Ball, Trenica Daniels, Jorri Nelson, Demetria Nelson, and Taurus Nelson; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Nelson; sisters, Mollie Nixon and Evon Nelson and many other relatives and friends.
