Georgia Lee Polk

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at Blackmon Temple Methodist Church, I in Carson, for Mrs. Georgia Lee Polk, 90, who died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Rev. Reginald Thompson officiated with interment following at Holisday Creek Baptist Church in Carson. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Georgia Lee Polk was the oldest of 10 children born to George and Edith Haynes in Carson.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Blackmon Temple CME Church where she remained a faithful member until her death. As a church member she was a choir member, usher and missionary. She attended school in the Jefferson Davis County Public School System. She worked with pride for many years as a common laborer with a laundry cleaner and several garment factories in the county. She enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family and friends, keeping her home spotless, helping others and watching soap operas. She was married to the late Betro Holloway and later married the late Hollie Polk Jr.
Mrs. Polk was preceded in death by sisters; Mary Lee Hall and Ethel Jean Hall, brothers; Legusta Haynes and Curtis Wheeler, and daughter; Juanita Sanders.
Georgia is survived by her sons, J. B. Holloway (Gloria) of Jackson, Hollis Polk of Gulfport, sisters; Frances Booth of Bassfield, Lela Hall of Carson, Yourlinda White (Edward) and Jessie Haynes of Prentiss, brother; Johnnie Haynes (Sarah) of Detroit, Michigan. She also leaves five grandchildren; Vicki Sanders-Johnson (LaMark), Leon Sanders III, Joffrey Holloway, Jerrick Holloway and Holli Le Ann Polk; six great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
