Marvin Hall

Funeral services were held Monday, March 6, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Glendarden, Landover, Maryland for Mr. Marvin Lynn Hall, 72, who died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, in Landover, Maryland. Rev. Belynda Gentry officiated with interment to follow in the Washington National Cemetery. J. B. Jenkins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Marvin Hall was born in Prentiss, Mississippi to the late Herbert and Jessie Lee Anderson Hall. He graduated from J. E. Johnson High School in 1968, he was briefly employed with Ingall’s Shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi. He moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he was drafted into the United States Army, Light Weapons Infantryman. He received an honorable discharge in 1971; his duty stations included USA, Vietnam and Germany. During his service, Mr. Hall received decorations, medals, bars and badges: Bronze Star, Air Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Overseas Bar, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert M16 Rifle and M60 Machine Gun Badge, and First Class Hand Grenade Badge.
Mr. Hall met his wife, Gwendolyn in 1968 and later wed in 1971 and to this union two sons were born. He was employed at Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation where he retired as Supervisory, Computer Operations in 2001.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Glenarden where he served in the Share Ministry and volunteered his service at the Empowerment Center.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Kelvin Hall; sister, Carolyn Hall.
He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Hall; sons, Kendrick (Nicole), Darnell (Samantha); five grandchildren, Joshua Hall, Gianna Hall, Genesis (Latiff) Parlin, Jasmine Hall and Madison Scott; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris (Herbert) Scott and Sherrol Hall; one brother, Kermit Hall; three brother-in-laws, nine sisters-in-law; one aunt, Yvonne Anderson and many other relatives and friends.
