Louis Lott honored for service to the JDC Economic Development Board

The Jefferson Davis County Board of Supervisors met for the second meeting of the month Monday morning at the board room in Prentiss.
The meeting opened with prayer by Board Attorney Wes Daughdrill before the meeting was called to order and the minutes and agenda were approved.
First on the agenda was a presentation honoring Louis Lott.
Lott recently retired from the Jefferson Davis County Economic Development District.
“Mr. Louis Lott’s service, support, and expertise have been invaluable to the Jeff Davis County Economic Development District,” said EDD Director Gary Bass. “His dedication and unwavering commitment to fostering economic growth have left an indelible mark on our community.”
Lott served over three decades of service on the board where he also held the title of president.
“Throughout his tenure as president, Mr. Lott has exemplified exceptional leadership, consistently working towards the betterment of our local businesses and residents. I am immensely grateful for his unwavering passion and tireless efforts, and his legacy will continue to inspire us as we strive for continued growth and prosperity.”
Lott was presented a proclamation in his honor from Jefferson Davis County Board President Bobby Rushing.
District 4 Supervisor Terry Mathis appointed Billy Parish as Lott’s replacement on the board.
Earlier this year, Valerie Rogers was appointed as the District 1 board member taking the place of Becky Bridges. District 1 Supervisor Corky Holliman abstained during the voting process.
Kevin Hughes has been named President of the JDC Economic Development District.
Other board members include Dorothy Barnes and Von Norwood.
The Board of Supervisors approved to stagger the terms of the EDD board members.
Daniel Sinclair was hired to bush hog the Industrial Park.
Agenda item “Approved payment of invoice without a purchase order for the Sheriff’s Department” was tabled.
During the Fourth of July holiday, District 4 garbage pick-up will be on Monday, July 3. The JDC Rubbish Pit will be closed July 4. No change in Districts 1 or 5.
No increase in budget was requested from SE MS Air Ambulance or the MS State Department of Health.
In other board news, the board approved the following without opposition before it entered into executive session over a personnel matter and adjourned.
• Approved minutes.
• Approved rescinding order making payment to T. Arnold and Hearin Gear and paying T. Arnold.
• Approved Board President signing Pay Application #12.
• Approved hiring contractual labor during paving.
• Approved quote moving radio equipment to new jail.
• Approved quote for stripping & buffing floors at DHS office.
• Approved employee action forms for District 2.
• Approved rescinding order employees attending meetings and conventions.
• Approved employees attending meetings and conventions.
• Approved continuing education for Tax Assessor’s office.
• Approved payment of invoices: AAA Contracting – Countywide paving project in District 1, Dungan Engineering – ERBR Sam Graham in District 4 and Magco – ERBR Sam Graham in District 4.
• Approved credit card report and payment.
• Approved payment of pay increase for Judge Touchstone staff attorney.
• Approved claims.
