Funeral services for Mrs. Judy Loftin Kittrell were conducted at 11 a.m. Sept. 27 at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery.
Dr. Nathan Barber officiated, assisted by Rev. Danny Forrest.
Mrs. Kittrell, age 77, entered into the eternal rest of her Lord Sunday afternoon, Sept. 24, 2023, at the Castlewoods Assisted Living facility in Brandon.
Judy fought a battle with Alzheimer’s disease for the past few years and ultimately won the war receiving her ultimate healing with her Savior, Jesus Christ. Saulters Moore Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
The family received friends Wednesday morning beginning at 9 a.m. until the hour of service at 11 a.m. at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kittrell was carried to her final rest by her pallbearers, Justin Miller, Christopher Miller, Michael Miller, Jack Miller, Alex Polk and Slade McNeil.
Judy was born and raised in Prentiss, and was a graduate of Prentiss High School.
After graduating from Prentiss, she moved to the Jackson area and then married and moved to Forest, where she raised her family.
In 2004, Judy and her husband, Howard Kittrell, retired to her family’s homestead outside of Prentiss in the Lone Star community where she lived until she moved into an assisted living facility.
Until then, Judy had been an active and faithful member of Lone Star Baptist Church. Upon retiring to Prentiss, she worked for the Covington-Jeff Davis Baptist Association.
Judy’s most prized title was that of “Mammaw” to her eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Kittrell; her parents, Paul and Irene Loftin; and her brother, Larry Loftin.
She is survived by her children Richie (Tammy) Miller of Terry; Carmen (Randy) Polk of Pelahatchie; Terry (Susan) Miller of Hattiesburg; her grandchildren Justin, Michael, and Christopher Miller; Joanna and Alex Polk; Taylor, Jack, and Payne Miller; and five great grandchildren; her sister, Brenda (Curtis) McNeil of Prentiss; brother Gary (Linda) Loftin of Glade Park, Colorado; brother Ralph (Patti) Loftin of Prentiss; sister Paulette Loftin of Prentiss; sister-in-law Sandra Loftin of Prentiss, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Covington Ridge Retirement Home in Collins and Castlewoods Place in Flowood for the selfless care they provided their mother throughout her illness.
The family has requested that memorials be made to the Lone Star Baptist Church, 421 Lone Star Road, Collins, MS 39428.
