Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023, at Galilee Baptist Church for Mr. Holie Hooker, 71, who passed away on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023, at his residence.

Rev. Robert Collins officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Holie Hooker was born to the late Henry Lee and Ella Ree Hooker. He attended Oakley School and J. E. Johnson in Prentiss. He joined Galilee Baptist Church at a young age and remained a member until his death.

Mr. Hooker worked with Odeco Oil Company, T. L. Wallace and Company, Edward Hyman Sewing Factory and Jefferson Davis Extended Care Facility. After retiring, he worked at Johnson Funeral Home until his health failed.

He was joined in holy matrimony to Vanessa S. Adams in 2018.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Lillie R. Dean, six brothers, Charles Williams, Jimmy Hartzog, Joe N. Hooker, Robert Hooker, Johnny Hooker and Henry Lee Hooker.

He is survived by his wife, Vanessa Hooker; son, Shawn (Jennifer) McCloud of Phoenix, Arizona; niece he raised a daughter, Nicole (John) Washington of Gulfport, MS; one sister, Elaine Washington of Prentiss and many other relatives and friends.
