Jean Marie Lewis was born on Oct. 3, 1938, in New Hebron, to D.K. and Arboree Fortenberry Mansfield.

She graduated from New Hebron High School, where she showcased her talent as a majorette.  After completing high school, she enrolled at Copiah-Lincoln (Co-Lin) Junior College before beginning her professional journey at Deposit Guaranty Bank, where she worked for over two decades.

She started as a teller and exemplified dedication and professionalism in all aspects of her work.

Through her hard work and determination, Jean steadily climbed the ranks and eventually earned the position of Administrative Secretary. Her contributions to the bank were invaluable and greatly admired by her colleagues.

Outside of her professional achievements and academic pursuits, Jean had a rich tapestry of hobbies and interests that brought joy to her life.  Among these were working in her flowers and in earlier years, she enjoyed sewing.  One of Jean’s greatest passions was her faithful canine companion, Baby Girl. The profound love they shared brought endless happiness to both their lives.

Each evening would find them together in the car, riding through the neighborhood. The bond they forged was unbreakable and brought immeasurable comfort to Jean throughout the years.

In addition to her professional accomplishments and personal joys, Jean actively participated in the New Hebron Methodist Church community.

Her unwavering faith guided every aspect of her life, making her an integral member of the church family.

Jean Marie Lewis will be remembered for many things – as a dedicated professional, a loving family member, and a devoted friend.

Her legacy encompasses her hard work, kindness, and unwavering love for those dear to her. Jean’s passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew her, but her memory will live on through those that loved her.

Mrs. Lewis is preceded in death by her parents, D.K. and Arboree Mansfield.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her son, Lance (Sheila) Cone of Talullah, Louisiana and her four grandchildren, Chelsey Cone (Brandon) Belcher of Las Vegas, Nevada, Dakota (Sarah) Cone of Haughton, Louisiana, Colton Cone of Talullah, Louisiana and Carson McKinney of Monroe, Louisiana.  Mrs. Lewis is also survived by her companion Donald Ray Odom of New Hebron.
