Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at Ruby K. Johnson Chapel in Prentiss for Mr. Lee Vernel Thompson, 81, who passed away on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at his residence. Rev. Thad Easter officiated with interment following in Progress Church of God in Christ Ceme-tery in Prentiss. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Thompson is the son of the late Buster and Josephine Thompson. He was a member of Progress Church of God in Christ. He was an Engineer. Mr. Thompson enjoyed working as a me-chanic and restoring junk cars.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Gholar Thompson, Prentiss; daughters, Tonya Thompson, Gulfport; Kimberly (Victor) Brown, Atlanta, Georgia; LaTasha (Willie) Dillon, Columbia; sister, Hattie Polk, Prentiss; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
