Funeral services were held Sunday, May 5, 2024, at South Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for Mrs. Dorothy Tripp, 78, who died Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. 

Evangelist Luther Martin officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. 

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dorothy Tripp was born to the late Rudolph and Martha Martin. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Tripp; brothers, Ira, Eural and Ervin; sister, Stella Mae Moses; sister-in-law, Barbara Martin. 

She united with South Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and accepted Christ at an early age.  She graduated from Jefferson Davis County School System and went on to attend Jackson State University.  She was married to Oliver Tripp in 1976.  She worked for Jackson Public School System for 23 years as a Teacher Assis-tant.  She retired in 2010 and was passionate about flowers, gardening, cooking and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Michael (Stephanie) Martin and Kendrick (Nekee) Tripp; step-children, Oliver (Tarri) Tripp, Valerie (Willie) Fulgham; brother, Earl (Wilhemina) Martin; sister, Betty (Andrew) Banks; two sisters-in-law; godsister, Willie B. Mason; grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
