Electrical classes starting soon at the D. W. Fortenberry Career Center in Carson

Pear River Community College is once again offering its electrical program in Jefferson Davis County.

The electrical program is a 10-month training program that prepares students for a career as an electrician. Upon successful completion of the class, students will receive an industry recognized NCCER Electrical (Level 1-4) certification.

The electrical program is held at the Dennis W. Fortenberry Career Center in Carson and accepts students once a year in August.

The cost for the program is $500. Classes will be held Sept. 3 – May 20 on Tuesday nights from  5 p.m. until 10 p.m. To sign up for the class or for more information, contact Ellen Rouse at 601-554-4646 or srouse@prcc.edu.

Workforce training programs are non-credit, short-term, affordable classes that provide hands-on training in local in-demand career pathways. Students gain necessary skills and/or certifications to obtain an entry level job upon completion.

PRCC offers a variety of workforce classes, including computer classes, construction essentials, commercial truck driving AutoCAD, basic PLC, certified clinical medical assistant, certified nursing assistant, certified phlebotomy technician, emergency medical technician (EMT), welding, Pine Belt Works manufacturing skills and forklift.
