Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at Sweetwater Methodist Church, Prentiss for Mrs. Bobbie Jean Booth, 76, who died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024, at her residence.Elder Jeff Loftin officiated with interment following in the Booth Cemetery in Bassfield.
Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bobbie Jean Booth was born in Prentiss to the late Bishop Cottrell Pope and Dessie Norwood Pope.
She was baptized at Sweetwater Methodist Church at an early age.
She graduated from Carver High School in Bassfield.
After graduation, she married Marvin Booth Sr. and became the parents of three children.
She was preceded in death by five siblings, Bishop Pope, James Pope, Homer Pope, Jessie Hathorn and Robert Hathorn.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin Booth of Hattiesburg; children, Marvin Booth Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida; Catina (Floyd) Baldon of Harker Heights, Texas and Kenyatta (Christopher) Gilmore of Hattiesburg; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Martha Magee of Gulfport and Nelson Pope of Prentiss.
