Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Monticello, for Mr. Wayne Peyton, 70, who died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, .  Rev. Joseph Hooker officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. 

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wayne Peyton was born to the late Charles Edward Sr. and Edell Peyton in Lawrence County. 

He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Monticello.  He was a member of Peyton Town Hunting Club of Monticello. 

Mr. Peyton retired shipping clerk who loved hunting, tailgating at Jackson State University, going to church and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Peyton of Monticello; sons, Wayne T. Peyton and Nicholas Peyton both of Monticello; daughter, Shequita P. Stonewall of Monticello; brothers, Charles Peyton Jr. and Alvin C. Peyton Sr. both of Monticello; sister, Carol A. Moye of Monticello five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many other family and friends.
