Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, at Sweetwater Methodist Church for Mrs. Shirely Charlene Walker, 75, who died Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, at her residence.

Bishop Danny McLaurin officiated with interment following in the St. James Church of God Christ cemetery in Prentiss. 

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mother Shirley Walker was born to the late Ephyriam and Corrine Weathersby in Jefferson Davis County.  She was a graduate of Carver High School, Bassfield. 

She joined Sweet Beulah Church of God in Christ at an early age; after marriage, she joined St. Mary Church of God in Christ and later James Hill Church of God in Christ where she served as a Mother of the church. 

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Felicia Keyes; son-in-law, Chester Keys, two brothers, Robert Weathersby and Earnest Weathersby; sister, Pearlena Tucker.

She is survived by two sons, Minoso Walker of Prentiss and Samuel Magee of Jackson; three grandchildren, Gelisha Myers, Shaquille (Tony) Myers and Bernard Myers all of Prentiss; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Emma J. Weathersby of Linden, Alabama and Daisy (Rev. Danny) Hayes of Prentiss; god son, Alvin Guive of Jackson; gad daughter, Ivery Butler of Louisiana and many other relatives and friends.
