Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, at Friendship Baptist Church in Monticello for Mr. Essie Ray Brown Sr., 70, who died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024, at Lawrence County Hospital in Monticello.
Elder Jerry Atterberry officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.
Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Essie Brown was born to the late Ernestine Brown and C. L. Mallard in Jayess.
He was educated in Monticello school system. He lived in California and later relocated to Louisiana where he lived most of his adult life. He later moved to Monticello.
He loved to drive and worked as a Tow Truck Driver until his health failed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Brown; five brothers, Fulton Brown, Milton Brown, Arthur Ray Brown, Willie Mallard and Frank Mallard and two sisters, Sandra Brown and Kathy Martin.
He is survived by three sons, Essie Ray Brown Jr., Ray Jefferson, Essie T. Jefferson; four daughters, Lisa, Stephanie and Patrice Brown; Jasmine Jefferson; five grandchildren; six brothers, Willie Sr., Harvey, Herman, Billy and David Brown, Robert Mallard; three sisters, Ollie J. Dixon, Hazel and Barbara Mallard and many other relatives and friends.
Lavonne Jordan
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, at W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home in Vicksburg for Mrs. Lavonne Thomas Jordan, 62, who died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024, at Wesley Merit Health in Hattiesburg.
Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Lavonne Jordan was born in Vicksburg to John Henry Ross and Katie Lee Banks.
She graduated from Prentiss High School in 1981, she married Theodore Jordan in 1982 and to this union, one child was born.
Later, she was blessed with three more children. She worked at Magnetek for many years and Sanderson Farms for 23 years.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Gloria and Mary; brother, Darrell and two nephews and one niece.
She is survived by four children, Katie Jordan of Prentiss; Chiquita Jordan of Hattiesburg; Tunji Jordan of Prentiss and Willie Fairley of Prentiss; four grandchildren, Ta’Marquise Jordan, Aquarius Brown, Dante Fairley and J’Taviious Fairley; four sisters, two brothers and many other relatives and friends.
La’Nyia Jackson
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, at Ruby K. Johnson Chapel for La’Nyia Heavenly Grace Jackson, 7, who died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024, at Rockcastle Regional Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky.
Rev. Ronnie Mackabee officiated with interment following in Griffith Cemetery in Prentiss.

La’Nyia Heavenly Grace Jackson was born on Oct. 6, 2017, to DeByron Jackson and Leneka Harris at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
She attended Rockcastle County School in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Melvin Ray Harris; maternal uncle, Kendall James Hunter.
She is survived by her mother, Leneka Harris; father, DeByron Jackson; paternal grandparents, Gary and Katie Jackson; maternal grandmother, Tysha (Elliot) Hunter-Armstrong; two sisters, Katelynn and Alexis; two brothers, DeByron and Jamir; uncles, Larundons (Candace) Jackson; Dontez Hooker and Dantrell Hunter; aunt, Linda (Kennis) Washington and many other relatives and friends.
Jerry Aultman
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, at St. Paul Baptist Church in Silver Creek for Mr. Jerry Aultman, 62, who died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024, at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital in Prentiss.
Rev. Michael O. Evans officiated with interment following on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, at Venia Park in Collins.

Mr. Jerry Aultman was the son of the late Joe Louis White and Almetta Aultman.
He was a former nutritionist and custodian at Sanderson Farm Daycare Center.
He was a faithful member of St. Paul Baptist Church, Silver Creek and was a graduate of Carver High School, Collins.
After graduation, he attended Jackson State University in Jackson.
He is survived his by wife, Angela Johnson; two sons, Jerry Aultman and Donald Posey both of Collins; three daughters, Tracey Posey, India Johnson and Sharon Posey all of Collins; one sister, Minister Gloria Vanison of Collins; three brothers, Charles Aultman and Emmitt White both of Collins; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Ayori Noelle Martin
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 6, 2025, at Ruby K. Johnson Chapel for Ayori Noelle Martin, 10 months, who died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
Rev. Herbert Anderson officiated with interment following at Griffith Cemetery in Prentiss.

Ayori Martin was born Feb. 21, 2024, to Alexius Jefferson and Louis Martin Jr.
She loved the character, “Bluey”.
She is survived by parents, Louis Martin Jr. and Alexius Jefferson of Hattiesburg; brothers, Kason Martin of Monticello; Treyston Martin and Kolten Mallard of Columbia; maternal grandparents, Rochanda Jefferson of Ypsilanti, Michigan; Gerald Reese of Bassfield; paternal grandparents, Louis Sr. and Janice Martin of Prentiss; maternal great-grandparents, Linda Jefferson of Bassfield; Freddie Jefferson of Columbia; Cassie Reese of Bassfield; paternal great-grandmother, Gracie Hathorn of Prentiss and many other relatives and friends.
