Graveside services for Mr. Wayne Herrington were conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, at the Lone Star Cemetery.
Dr. French Tripp officiated.
Mr. Herrington, age 56, passed away suddenly at his home in Bastrop, Louisiana, on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025.
Saulters Moore Fu-neral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
The family received friends Sunday afternoon, from 2 p.m. until 2:40 p.m. at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.
A memorial service celebrating Wayne’s life will be held in Bastrop, Louisiana at a later date for his friends and family that are unable to attend the service in Prentiss.
Wayne was carried to his final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers. They included Aaron Moore, Frankie Beech, Jonathan Pittman, R.L. Mayberry, Eddie Lee, Jacob Lott and Anthony Delaphous. Tony Arthur, Jon Arthur, and Michael Moore served as honorary pallbearers.
Louie Dewayne Herrington was born on Aug. 14, 1968, in Covington County, to Louie Terrell and Charlotte Harrison Herrington.
A graduate of Prentiss High School, Wayne was raised in Jefferson Davis County but had made his home in Bastrop the last several years.
He was a mechanic, and he and his wife, Nikki, owned and operated Nikway Auto 2 in Bastrop.
Working side by side with his wife, he gained the confidence of many locals in Bastrop, Louisiana.
Known as a hard worker, he had a reputation for dependability, and whether rain or shine, he never took a day off when a customer called.
In his free time, Wayne would donate his time to help a family in need.
Wayne also enjoyed going to the racetrack with his wife and listening to music.
However, his greatest passion was spending quality time with his family and spoiling his grandbabies. Mr. Herrington was of the Presbyterian faith.
He is preceded in death by his father, Louie Terrell Herrington.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 15 years, Nikki Herrington; two daughters, Kala Dempster and Jolynn Dempster, all of Bastrop, Louisiana; his mother, Charlotte Herrington and sister, Missy Jones (Don), both of Prentiss and his brothers-in-law, Tony Arthur and Jon Arthur, both of Bastrop, Louisiana. The legacy of their “Pops” will also live on through his grandchildren, Ash-lynn, Dawson and Sebastian.
