PCS JV girls win district championship

On Thursday, Feb. 2, the JV Saints traveled to Waynesboro to play in the Junior Varsity Tournament.

In junior varsity Saints’ action, the Saints played Wayne Academy.  The final score was 22 to 32.  Scorers for the game were Byron Anderson with 10 points, Damion Gooden and Brantley Breeland each with six points.  This loss ended the JV Saints’ play for the year.

On Friday, Feb. 3, the JV lady Saints traveled to Waynesboro to play in the semi-finals of the junior varsity tournament.

In junior varsity Lady Saints’ action, the JV Lady Saints played Newton Academy. The final score was 24 to 12. Scorers for the game were Sarah Magee with nine points, Culley Cochran with five points, Alexis Tran with four points, Maidyn Rush with three points, Laurel Stewart with two points and Jana Johnson with one point.

On Saturday, Feb. 4, the JV Lady Saints traveled back to Waynesboro to play Sylva Bay Academy in the finals of the junior varsity tournament.

The JV Lady Saints won the district championship with a final score of 20 to 15. Scorers for the game were Culley Cochran with 11 points, Alexis Tran with seven points and Maidyn Rush and Laurel Stewart each with one point. The JV Lady Saints are coached by head coach Nick Daley and assistant coach Nita Griffith.
