Term appointments made at Prentiss board meeting

The Prentiss Board of Aldermen met for the first meeting of the term July 1 at Prentiss City Hall.

The first meeting with the new Prentiss Mayor Tony Waits and Board of Aldermen for the Town of Prentiss was held July 1.

All five board members were present. New to the Board was Rhonda Bayles, Holley Cochran and Becky Williamson who were elected in June.

After prayer was offered by Willie Davis, the Board approved the June minutes, claims docket and water refunds and adjustments.

Willie Davis was selected as Mayor Pro Tempore for the term 2025-2029, followed by the appointment of Wes Daughdrill as the attorney for the Town of Prentiss.

Municipal Judge Albert Turnage, Public Defender April Taylor and Prosecuting Attorney Alan Buffington were all re-appointed unanimously.

Mayor Tony Waits and Willie Davis will be the Town of Prentiss voting delegates for the Mississippi Municipal League and Mayor Tony Waits was appointed to represent the Town of Prentiss on the board of the Pearl and Leaf Rivers Rails to Trails Recreational District.

The Board approved travel and lodging to the MML convention July 21-July 23.

The Board entered into executive session, then adjourned.
