Piggly Wiggly on Columbia Avenue is now open. Ramey’s closed last Wednesday, the store was closed Thursday and re-opened Friday as Piggly Wiggly.

The owner of the store is Jason Cook. Store manager is Lisa McPhail.

“We are very excited about joining the Jeff Davis community,” said Cook. 

Cook’s small business started in 2016 in Angie, Louisiana and has since grown to seven locations including Bush, Lumberton, Gloster, Liberty and Heidelberg.

“Our mission has been simple in that we feed people and try to give people access to affordable, fresh food,” he said.

“Historically, we have opened up in food deserts, but the opportunity came up to service Prentiss and we couldn’t pass it up being close to where I was raised.”

The store will feature weekly ads and in-store specials.

Along with sales and ad papers, special offers and digital coupons can be found on the Pig Perks app. The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

A rewards program will also be offered through Pig Perks. Shoppers can  earn one point for every $1 spent.

Starting Nov. 6, the store will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. seven days a week.
