An early morning fire has claimed the life of a Carson man.

The call came in to authorities at approximately 4:25 a.m. this morning that a residence was on fire at 1026 Greens Creek Road.

Firefighters arrived to find the home fully engulfed and a male inside. He has been identified as 66-year-old Tommy Dyess.

Prentiss, Bassfield and Granby Fire Departments contained the blaze.

Jefferson Davis County Fire Investigator Harold Rhodes, the Mississippi State Fire Marshal’s Office, Jefferson Davis County Coroner Dedra Johnson and the Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Department were also on the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time
